“Mandibles – A Fly Comes Alone”
A discovery on Amazon Prime. Delightfully decadent French humor by Quentin Dupieux (“Mr. Oizo”).
Two guys who seem completely indifferent to everything—and with full energy. And then, not so much. While stealing a car, they find a giant fly and decide to train it. Surrounding them: an array of quirky characters. Yet the film stays far from slapstick. That’s skillful.
French cinema that irreverently takes aim at everything that doesn’t fly off in a split second—especially human (?!) nature.
Because clearly, the fly is the protagonist here. All of this in 75 minutes. Worth watching!
